MERE LITERARY FESTIVAL
Saturday 18th October, 8.00pm
I am delighted to be heading back to the south west for another first, this time to appear at Mere Literary festival to talk about The Cure. Join us for some chilling chat about the themes behind the book, the extensive research I did, and the real-life science behind my fictional cure for ageing.
You can book tickets here.
WANTAGE LITERARY FESTIVAL

Friday 31st October, 2.00pm
I will be making my first appearance at Wantage Literary Festival to discuss my latest thriller The Cure with author and historian Nicola Cornick. I’ll be discussing the ideas behind the book and the research that inspired it, and how curing ageing may not be as far away as you may think… Books kindly supplied by Wantage Books.
You can book tickets here.
ABINGDON LIBRARY, Thursday 18th September
What a lovely evening at Abingdon Library we had discussing The Cure with fabulous interviewer and librarian Jess.
Huge thanks to everyone who came along: we had a full house.
From billionaire biohacking to freezing dead bodies to pharma corruption, we covered it all!
Also thanks to Mostly Books in Abingdon for supplying the books and to Chloe for taking great pics.
BLOODY SCOTLAND
Harsh Environments Panel
Friday 12th September, Stirling
It was so much fun returning to Stirling for one of my favourite festivals, Bloody Scotland.
I was on a panel with fellow thriller authors Harry Whitehead and Michael Cordy discussing themes of climate, chaos and corruption. There were some fabulous other panels, with a great diversity of authors, and the sun actually shone so I got to walk up to the castle and look out at Stirling’s breathtaking views.
Thanks so much to the festival organisers and volunteers for making us so welcome, this is one I definitely will return to!
THEAKSTON OLD PECULIER CRIME WRITING FESTIVAL
What Planet Are They On?
Saturday 19th July, Harrogate
Wow, was Harrogate a blast, like experiencing a week in 2 days. Thank you so much to Mick Herron and all the committee members and volunteers for making it such a memorable festival.
I saw some brilliant authors, bloggers & readers, excellent panels and signings, and had my first ever panel here!
I owe huge thanks to my fellow panelists, Ben Aaronovitch, famed for his Rivers of London series, Sarah Pinborough, whose many bestsellers include Behind Her Eyes, now a major Netflix hit, Adam Oyebanji, author of Braking Day and our brilliant chair Doug Johnstone, author of the BBC2 Between the Covers pick The Space Between Us.
Then there was Friday night's murder mystery at the author dinner written by Mick Herron, based at the retirement home for spies, which resurrected some long buried acting skills channeling retired PA Penny Cashback alongside fellow authors and actors Louise Doughty, Vaseem Khan and Kate Kemp.
Now I can die saying I starred in a Mick Herron play...

NEWARK BOOK FESTIVAL
Deadly Secrets and Dystopian Fears Friday 11th July
I had such fun at Newark Book Festival on a panel with Icelandic Crime Author Eva Bjorg Aegisdottir, interviewed by Dr Tim Rideout. Tim asked some fabulous questions and despite the baking heat, there was a great turn out.
Thanks so much to everyone who came, and to the Book Case for supplying our books!
BURFORD LIBRARY, Tuesday 17th June
I really enjoyed my talk with Kim from Madhatter Books on the research and inspiration behind The Cure.
She asked some very interesting questions that were different to the norm. Thanks to Carol Amy for organising, and to everyone who came along.
CARTERTON LIBRARY, Tuesday 10th June
We had a lovely evening at Carterton Library discussing the ideas and inspiration behind The Cure with a wonderful discussion with the audience about if you were offered an injection that reversed your biological clock, would you have it?
Thanks to Sally for doing a fabulous job interviewing, to Kim at Madhatter Books for selling copies of my books, to Andrew for hosting us and doing a brilliant display, and to everyone who came along.
CAMBERLEY LIBRARY
Eve Smith & Guy Morpuss in conversation
Tuesday 20th May
I had a great evening in Camberley with local thriller author, Guy Morpuss, who wrote the critically acclaimed Five Minds and recently launched his first legal thriller, A Trial in Three Acts.
Guy and I discussed the similarities and differences in our writing process, and the research and experiences that inspired our books. Huge thanks to Will and all the team for hosting and making us feel so welcome.
LOCAL LAUNCH OF THE CURE
Thursday 3rd April, Witney Waterstones
We had such a fabulous evening at the local launch of THE CURE at Witney Waterstones.
Patty and Gem pulled out all the stops, and we chatted about the book, the research that inspired it and some actual tales from the antiageing industry that sound more farfetched than fiction.
Thanks to everyone who came and sampled our refreshing elixirs, and who bought a copy of the book. It is much appreciated.
And thanks again to Patty, Gem & Karen for all their work setting up the incredible displays and being such perfect hosts.
PRE-LAUNCH INSTAGRAM LIVE
Wednesday 9th April
I had a lovely chat about my inspiration for THE CURE with Emma from the fabulous Squadpod: a team of book enthusiasts and bloggers who support authors by celebrating their books and sharing reviews with their followers.
If you missed the event, you can catch the recording of our interview here.
CRIME CENTRAL
Thursday 26th Feb, Central Library, Manchester
I had such a blast at my first event of the year at the stunning Manchester Central Library on a crime fiction panel with Suzy Aspley, whose chilling gothic debut Crow Moon was shortlisted for multiple awards last year, Nick Quantrill, author of the Joe Gerachty thrillers, and hosted by Chris MacDonald.
There’s a fabulous crime writing and reading community in Manchester, and it was lovely to chat to readers about the books, answer questions and then quench our thirst at a local hostelry afterwards!
